    Hi folks,

I am wondering why my Java runs at 50% when I have NO APPLICATIONS running, just surfing the net!?!? I have not installed any new software either ... so!

I kill the process via Task Manager each time. This has been happening in the last 2 days!

BTW, I have already ran MBAM, SAS, AVIRA at Full Scan and NO VIRUS!

Q1: Is this a sign of Spyware or a Trojan, which my AntiVirus is not catching!?!?

    Q2: Any other suggestions!?!?

    Thanks,

    G :)

What process are you killing? Java has several components that get autostarted in order to save time when you actually pull down a webpage containing javascript, for example.

I think that your AV programs might be infected, but that' not even possible or maybe java was replaced by a fake java program created by a virus.Go and get yourself a DL of malwarebytes and do a scan.

To search for a virus. Its not necessary but just a extra precaution.

I think the OP's already got that base covered, until/unless someone can come up with a more specific reason for why the other A/V apps he used failed to catch some bit of malware.

    Hi folks,

    @ Shyster ... I am killing "Java.exe*32" ... and laptop acts A-OK.

@ Nightmear ... Thanks ... I think I will update my AV again ... I usually do it on a daily basis ...

Also, I might run the GMER to see if a rootkit has slipped by ... and may be run my AntiVirus in "SAFE" mode!

    Thanks,

    G!

I heard that some AVs can find things that others can't, im not sure how accurate. Also ive never had this problem so i cant give much info except that there could be a virus hiding as a legit file.

I would uninstall Java. See if there is still a problem. Then reinstall the latest version of Java again (if you need it).

Make sure Java is installed in the right location too. Right click the process in Windows task manager and select "Open File Location".

if u have avast u can do a boot up scan that usually always helps me....run a full system scan of malwarebytes....uninstall any software u have installed recently that u feel is the one behind this.....run in safe mode and check if the .exe is still running......uncheck any start up programs under msconfig that seem to not belong there......hope this helps in away =)
