I thought this OS was supposed to better support and play with new hardware than the ancient yesterware but stable Windows 7..... I am losing around 10% in the total score of my 3DMarks and I bought this Origin PC Millennium just to play benchmarks and beat @Mr. Fox

so I am guessing the only performance benefit of this Windows 10 is for DX12? Microsoft used this cheap trick to only offer DX12 for Windows 10 while leaving us with a lower performing OS

I have everything you could imagine disabled, cortana, typing learning, you name it, but still, my score is lower :(

The OS itself does not exhibit the characteristics of the ovethead that would lower the physics numbers. I d have to say for a middling system such as my own the numbers are slightly lower but only 3-4% at most. Some things actually seem slightly faster like Dirt2 as where before I could not get over 50FPS minimum @ 8x without an OC now it does it easily stock.

Maybe with the optimization forthcoming in a couple of months it will get better but for now if you want to play the bench game W10 is not the place to be.

Well this was the same with Windows 8 man, Micro$haft said it is more optmized for new hardware and like tilleroftheearth calls Windows 7 (Yesterware OS), Windows 8 also gives me lower benchmarks. How is this technically possible from any point of view? an OS more optimized for new hardware yet the older OS (Win 7 FTW) always maxes our the benchmarks. I am very disappointed after spending 2 days installing Windows 10 and setting it up like I wish and disabling half its features, run the benchmark and the numbers just fail to impress.

Optimized for newer hardware is a deceiving statement. Pretty much what it means is they will include to the installation the ability to use the newer hardware without side loading drivers. With the popularity still of W7 though drivers for just about everything is available out there.

Now for a PC W7 really is today's OS, it is what everything is bench marked against, literally. As for tablet, convertibles and other consumption devices, then yes it may then be a yesterware OS. Thing is for this forum it is about the PC side of things.

Don't listen to tiller, you should know by now he belongs strictly in the "newer is better" camp
