Yesterday i went to best buy and was looking at some of the noteboks and i noticed that the icons the letters,theclise sign<X> were very large.Why is it like that?

Either you were looking at notebooks with 1200x800 resolution and you are used to a much higher resolution or someone had set the dpi scaling to the "Large" setting. Those of use who have poor vision have to have the lower resolution screens and the dip scaled up.

it could be because geeksquad has some software that they probably put on it and it tweeks XP and makes changes and one of the changes is larger icons. i had it on my desktop but then i formatted

Its probably resolution difference, or system settings. You can change the appearance of text, icons and stuff on your own computer too.

you can also simply make the buttons on titlebars larger in the advanced section of the appearance tab for the screen properties.
