Why can't I permanently set a "Documents" view on Picture folders?

Is this my imagination or is Microsoft such an incompetent company that it can't program its foldering system to remember that I prefer a "Documents" view in my Picture folders?

Am I missing something? I'm so frustrated with this. Happens in both XP and Vista!!!

Right now I'm on my work laptop, but you should be able to check the following setting to be sure it is selected. I've never had this problem continue after I set the view. You do have to set the view on each folder initially...though there might be some other settings in Vista. I'd have to check my home machine later on.

Go to Tools > Folder Options > View Tab, and look for the setting "Remember each folder's view settings."

This will probably be under the Organize menu in Vista.

If you google around you'll see that this is a widspread problem. Vista doesn't seem to be able to remember folder settings. It used to for me, but then it stopped. It's really pretty ridiculous.
