I did a clean install yesterday, after installing all Windows + Driver updates, I ran the Windows Experience and got 7.0, now I did the whole thing again (change of disc), and get a 6.9 - my lowest score is my graphic card, how is that possible?

WEI change from 7.0 to 6.9 is not a big change and shouldn't be worried about.

I just ran it once yesterday and once today, and noticed the change. Oh well, and I did install the same latest version for the graphic card. You're right, no worries, just wondering...

Newer drivers change the WEI for the GPU sometimes.

I'm thinking the change accounts for newer hardware that is being released. MS has to fit in all hardware into their 0 to 7.9 range, so obviously current HW will decrease in order to scale in the newer and better HW.

Which is exactly why MS's "benchmark" is a PO...fill in your favorite letter there...

Ok, the mystery continues, now my CPU dropped from 7.1 to 6.9

I still have the old harddrive with my first install, it was on Windows Enterprise 7 N, the new one is Windows 7 Ultimate with all the same updates and drivers.

Here are the scores for the first install:

    7.1
    7.4
    7.0
    7.0
    7.6

The new drive is a little faster, but CPU and GPU changed too:

    6.9
    7.4
    6.9
    6.9
    7.8

It Microsoft had changed anything, it would reflect the old original install too, but it doesn't, I don't get it.

I looked at the logs, don't know much about it, but many numbers are lower than the previous, just as if I had changed hardware.

    1. Can the different harddrive make a difference in CPU/GPU score?
    2. Can the different Windows version make a difference?

Run the WEI assessment in the "Windows classic theme" and see if the score changes. Disable any security software when running the assessment.

    Coolguy, done, now I get:

    7.5
    6.9
    6.9
    7.8

Ok, changed more settings, now I get:

    7.1
    7.5
    7.0
    7.0
    7.8

That's fine, I'm done, the performance test doesn't work well, when you can change the results with software settings...oh well.
