It has happened to me twice. I boot up and I get "win 7 is not genuine"
First time it happened I got a few gray hairs.
However, when I give the authenticate command, it automatically authenticates (without me having to reenter the license number).
Is this standard?

Uh... where/how did you get your copy of Windows 7?
If it came with your computer, then... where did you get your computer? -

Where did you get your windows disc/key/computer?

I bought computer from tigerdirect. -
I was wondering if this might help!
And just for some more info, I came across a few more links which I thought would be useful to you..

In my case, I didnt make any changes to group policies etc, I'm just using the default settings.
At least it authenticates using the windows tool without me having to reenter the keys.
BAH. -
A lot of Technet keys are sold against their license and later banned.
To actually find out the computers activated with those license keys, some update flags ALL technet licenses to be checked, just like yours. Because your license code is valid everything is ok after validation.
Yet another nuisance brought to us by pirates. That's why people should either go legal or at least stick with warez instead of shoveling money to some random dude's pocket. -
I've had a "this version of Windows is not genuine" error with my student version of Windows 7 as well. It went away on its own and hasn't come back.
-
its happened to me a couple times. every time i ask about it i get accused of piracy. it happened on my student copy.
-
Had it once on an OEM copy of Windows Vista, on the Toshiba.

This happened to me once with my Win 7 Professional that I got with a college student discount. After I ran WGA checker, everything was fine and I have not had any problems since.

Intersting...except for CZX58 Shadow, this seems to be only happening to student (and in my case technet) keys...Maybe KLF is onto something. It pisses me off since if I dont have internet connection, and use technet/student keys, my win 7 will be branded as non-genuine some day in the future? Grrrr...

Some days/weeks after my VHP32 retail had been activated I got the "Not Genuine" 2 or 3 times. Didn't give me gray hairs but I did see red. Was a long time ago (~2 years) so don't recall all the details but IIRC it happened while booting to the desktop but using system properties showed genuine and next boot was problem free. Buggy MS code, grrr. Still running the OS today.
Why does Win 7 periodically say that its not genuine?
