Can anyone fill me in on how this is possible? Open directory in windows explorer - files all gone. Check in dos, and everything's there.

EDIT: As Scuderia noted, the directories in the example are not the same (whoops) - that said, the same thing happens when I open the correct folder in Win Explorer

    Running XP Pro SP2

Is there a reason why you aren't running SP3 by now?

If you flag a file as -system or -hidden, the DIR command won't show them, you have to use dir /A.

Because it's a work system, and they have to be standardised before the IT Dept will connect them to the network (or so I believe). I think it's because we run proprietary software that... isn't exactly bug-tested to a high standard.

I could be wrong though, so do you think that could be a possible fix? (SP3)

Explorer and the commandline console function "dir" access the data differently, and it would appear that Explorer's data-source is not responding properly.

The Winsdows Explorer is looking at:

    P:\Industry Solutions & Sales\Sales

the CMD window is looking at:

    P:\Service Operations, Solutions & Sales\Sales

Not the same directory at all!

Ugh, cheers Gary, I look like a right eedjit now, huh? (The industry folder is supposed to be empty.

As it stands, the problem is still there (in the same folder lol), but logging off and remapping the drives seems to be working for now.

    Nice catch though lol

As I told Shyster in a private message, sometime the obvious answer is the best one. Sometimes I am Mr. Obvious, sometimes I am Mr. Oblivious.

    ...big ol' grin...
