    Why is the 64-Bit version of Firefox called Minefield?

    As the title states. I know they both fall under the Mozilla umbrella, but why change the name?

    uh 64 bit ff is not called minefield...
    no such this as a 64 bit browser
    minefield is just beta

    I think Minefield is the name of the FF3.0 betas.

    that's the codename for the betas, because there are still a lot of bugs they are trying to take out. when the final version comes out it will be called "gran paradiso".

    another reason is that the 64-bit versions are unofficial releases so they can't be called firefox. only official releases can be called firefox.
