This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved. For current discussions, many NBR forum users moved over to NotebookTalk.net after the shutdown.

    Why isnt Windows allowing me to move this file?

    Trying to move a personal file from "My Documents" in to another folder and im getting this pop-up:

    "You do not have permission to perform this action".

    I am logged in as an administrator.

    What am I missing here?

    Scratch the above-I figured it out.
    I had to put the lovely UAC setting back on.
    What a pain in my a$$ Vista is.

    You don't need to have UAC on to do this. I turned off UAC when I installed Vista and haven't had any problem.
