There could be several reasons as to why it runs slowly. Is it an xp->vista upgrade, when was it formatted last time? When was a Defragmentation run last? How many programs are up and running along with Vista at boot?

Also, what are the rest of the specs? Aero can slow your Vista install to a crawl if on bare bottom hardware...

Hm... and a Intel Celeron single core CPU... That might be an issue too...
An Intel Centrino dual core CPU should give no problem...

What other software is running? If you have Norton anti-virus, uninstall it, as it is a resource hog.

2008 isn't any more. And it only affects boot time if you have more than 256MB of memory....

Is that a Celeron M 1.6 or just a Celeron? A Celeron M 1.6 should be enough (Celeron are Pentiums with half the L2 cache btw, like Semprons to Athlons)

If you didn't do a clean install / updates it's probably the case too.
