I was looking for an english version of Vista x64 Home Premium here in Japan.

I was talking on the phone with a sales dude, and from what I understand, Vista comes with a floppy disk??

Do I actually need that to boot?

Is it Retail or OEM ?
Did you ask about the purpose of the floppy ? (Could be some sort of language pack)

If Vista Home Premium supports language packs now, then I’m going to reinstall mine!

I have no idea why Vista would need a floppy, since everything needed for Vista should be well over 1.4MB! Seeing that most if not all new computers don’t even come with a floppy drive, is really a mystery why they would send you a floppy?

I have not had a floppy drive for several PCs. I suppose a USB floppy drive would be an option if needed.

Since the boot order can be set in the BIOS and the CD/DVD drive is usually ahead of the hard drive most often an OS install is just booted from CD\DVD. DVD more often now as the DVD holds so much more than a CD.
