Laptop make and model? Wireless adapter model?

Sadly, the wireless going out is often the first sign of a motherboard chipset failure with certain laptops

1.) The hardware switch might be "off".
2.) Make sure the hardware is enabled in the Device Manager.
3.) The wireless card may need to be reseated in the connector. (This is common with Vaio's.)
    4.) Update your drivers.
5.) Uninstall any 3rd party connection software like "SmartWi". It only gets in the way.
