I recently dual-booted XP and Vista (with Vista installed first), but I can't seem to get WiFi to work under XP. When I turn it "on" (as sliding the wireless switch to the "on" position), nothing happens- the indicator light doesn't come on. However, I quite confident that this isn't a hardware problem since WiFi works perfectly under Vista. Before anyone suggests that this is a driver problem, let me note that I can't even install the drivers unless it detects the card first. Any suggestions? Thanks

I am I correct in assuming that the card doesn't show up at all in 'Device Manager' and that you can't install it via the 'Add New Hardware' wizard?

Try this:
- Remove the wireless chip
- Boot XP
- Shutdown XP
- Reseat the chip
- Boot XP
Worked for me once. -
i don;t suppose anyone has an easier, software only solution?

ok, I got the Wifi working by taking it out, then putting it back in again, but this doesn't seem to work for bluetooth. Did anyone encounter this problem too?

Did your laptop come with XP or Vista? During the XP install process, did you make sure to install all of the necessary laptop drivers/software packages? Just guessing, but it sounds like the chipset driver and/or system software isn't installed, or some problem happened during the install process. Have you tried reinstalling those necessary drivers?

I have all the other drivers installed (including chipset and all). However, setup won't let me proceed until it first detects that bluetooth is turned on. My laptop originally came with XP, but then, I switched to Vista. Now, I'm dual-booting XP and Vista with Vista installed first. I should mention that bluetooth doesn't work under Vista and XP.
