I downloaded Comodo Firewall a few weeks ago mostly for use when I'm on the road connecting to hotspots. After using it awhile I turned it off and Windows FW on because I'm behind a router and it was sometimes a pain allowing this and that with the Comodo.

Since I been using Windows FW I tried to Windows update using the MS website and update a website using CuteFTP Pro but couldn't connect to either. I tried everything including disabling my AV and turning off the Windows firewall altogether.

Anyway, I found this website utility to see if certain ports were open and received error messages or notice they were closed. That got me thinking, so with CuteFTP open, I turned on the Comodo FW to a series of allows. Next thing I know I'm connected to the server I'm using to update the website and was able to do a Windows updates on IE.

Prior to using Comodo I had no troubles at all. I wonder if somehow it was working in the background but not asking for permissions, since I only turned it off in the start up? It wasn't on, or atleast showing, in my system tray. Odd if you ask me. Just thought I'd pass that on.
