There were issues with 8.5 back in 2007 when Vista started coming out, but the incompatibility was beign resolved with subsequent Vista build (RTM).

    So - it should work!

    cheers ...

    Good specs, price is acceptable.

What/How do you intend to use the laptop for?

    cheers ...

    bit of multi tasking like:

    doing homework

    listenening to music

    browsing the web etc.

    Not for gaming anyways.

i just really like the look of it but i dnt want to pay for it if its not worth that type of money...

Toshiba is a good brand, and that model should support what you intend to do.

"Worth that type of money" is hard to prove, as price and model vary with each and every day. Take the specs and dig around some more.

    cheers ...

Toshiba is also recovery disc friendly. A friend owns one and the recovery disc is a ghost image of the hard drive.

It takes 5 mins or less to run. It's a older model but, very easy setup. I am not sure if the hard drive is partition in two like other laptops and retail computers are today.

The recovery disc is an immage - not an installation.

I wonder if that's positive or not - possibly user dependent.

About XP software under Vista - in theory every XP software should at least run in compatebility mode under Vista, games excluded.

I'm so confused about all this talk about recovery discs i thought that all you had to do was put it in and then it restores it back to factory settings...?

What's all this other stuff you are talking about?
