Hi,
I would like to pre-order either windows seven home premium or windows seven professional operating system upgrade. I would appreciate it very much if someone could tell me if Microsoft office 2002 will work with either of the two windows seven versions that I would like to upgrade to. Thanks.![]()

There is no reason to believe that Office 2002 will not work on Windows 7. Generally, Microsoft's backwards-compatibility is excellent between different versions of Windows. You can reasonably expect all software that works in Windows XP and Windows Vista to run correctly on Windows 7.
-
Apparently on Vista there is an issue where Outlook XP doesn't remember paswords but everything else should work
Office 2003 and 2007 are the supported versions on Vista, which would be the same for W7 -

Maybe you should upgrade office also, 2007 is way better.
2002 is so.... 2002 -
I use and enjoy 2007 on my personal laptop thanks to the deals at theultimatesteal.com and needing a new license since my 2003 license went with my previous laptop. So I'm pretty familiar with 2007. I use 2003 on my work computer every day, so I'm still pretty familiar with that as well.
To be completely honest though, I really don't know of anything 2007 lets me do that I couldn't have done in office 2003. Sure there are improvements but not enough that I'd have paid much to upgrade an existing license. That may be different for a super power user; for most common folks I bet 2003 (or 2002) is just fine. -

office 2007 doesn't bring much new, but the gui allows much faster and more simple workflows which you gain from.
it depends on the office-parts he uses. there are quite cheap options, depending on the need. -

Too late for upgrading to Office 2007, 2010 is coming out soon (well I mean somewhere in 2010)
-
One could argue that if you can wait a year then you really have no true need to upgrade now anyway.
If you don't have anything or what you have now isn't doing what you need it to do, then Office 2010 coming out in a year really doesn't make any difference. If you need it now, you gotta get what's available. -

I dont know the list of details exactly but we own 3 hotel properties and I do a lot of our documents and spread sheets.
As a Hilton property the site I work at comes with 2007 on all the computers. The other 2 properties though have the older version of excell/office and there has been quite a few times I made a spread sheet I liked and it ended up using features that the older version of excel did not support.
Way too many times lol, so now i have to always make sure I check as I go for compatibility.
My boss started using open office and so far I think he likes it more than the older version of office for the other properties and may try to switch over to using that instead. -
Office xp a.k.a. office 2002 does not work for me. I keep getting prompt instal screens.

odd, I have managed to get office 95, 98, 2000, xp, 2003 and 2007 all working well on windows 7 releases 7000 to 7100, couldnt get office pro 4.0 to work though but hey its OLD

Can you tell me how you installed? from login account to other tasks?
Right now my windows 7 is completely not used by me anymore since I cant get office 2002 (my preference) to work there. I have also installed service pack 3. But the annoying thing is, even after I installed it, windopws update keeps saying I need to install again. And so in the update history I have like 3-4 office xp service pack 3 installed. Duno whats going on. Its like its not registering or something. -

I DID have some problems with the 7000- 7057 releases if you did upgrades instead of a clean install, can you give me more information on your system and how the OS was setup or installed. A clean load of 7100 on has always worked well for me

I have RC 7100. I have 64 bit. I installed NEW.
BTW How to activate this XP mode? -
As for Intel, it's a little more tricky, some models have, some don't, here is the list: http://www.tomshardware.com/news/windows-xp-mode-virtualization-intel,7709.html
2- You need to download and install Virtual PC for Windows 7 and XP for Win7 from Microsoft. Both can be found here, with instructions:
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/virtual-pc/download.aspx
3- Just install and your done.
Note: Windows XP provided is in 32-bit even if you have Windows 7 64-bit with Virtual PC 64-bit.
