I bought a Dell notebook from Ebay which has a Windows 8 Pro sticker on the bottom but is running Windows 10. In the activation information, it reads "Windows is activated using your organisation's activation service". Does this mean that the licence does not belong to me/the machine I bought - and could potentially expire at any time?

I would contact the reseller and get a partial refund or just go back to Windows 8.
To find out your Windows 10 Product key that's injected in your computer's motherboard:
Download RWEverything and launch it as admin
Click on ACCESS > ACPI Tables
Then go to the MSDM Tab:

Thanks for the reply. Just to check (regarding the last part of your response), in my case I cannot extract a Windows 10 licence key from the motherboard as the key on the board is likely to be Windows 8?

Hopefully the vendor didn't sell the Windows 8 Pro key to someone else... I'd try to install Windows 8 Pro right away and see if it activates, otherwise use the Windows 10 and Windows 8 Pro license issues as a reason to return, and/or complain to Ebay to get your money and shipping charges returned.Last edited: Jan 19, 2018Raiderman likes this. -
