I remember with XP when you didn't have an SP2 CD the big deal was to create an XP CD that had SP2 slipstreamed in so the computer would already have SP2 installed when you did a clean install of XP. Is that going to be possible w/ Vista when SP1 comes out? If so will I be able to create such a CD on my laptop by using the CD provided by Dell? Thanks

ScifiMike12 Drinking the good stuff
I use vLite and nuhi said that it wasn't possible to integrate SP1.
There are other ways but I'm just to lazy do them. -
Yeah, with XP you would use nLite; the Vista version is called vLite. nLite can do service packs, but if vLite can't, then I guess you'll have to manually install it

That's what I was afraid of. Thanks. I may spring for Ultimate retail after SP1 comes out. I'd like the option to play w/ 64 bit anyways.

I think this method is the cleanest since it uses built-in SP2 program to integrate SP2 to Windows XP CD. I am waiting for the instruction from the same author to slipstream Vista SP1 and XP SP3. Hopefully, the method would be as clean as XP SP2. -
Vista doesn't really live up to the promises on this matter yet.
Before it was launched, they talked up how easy it was to customize, update and slipstream your install disk. Unfortunately, that still doesn't work, and they've said they won't be able to get it in with SP1 either. Perhaps SP2...
That's unfortunate, because it was one of the Vista features I was really looking forward to. In the meantime, you're best off hoping vLite can do the heavy lifting for you.
Will slipstreams be possible w/ SP1?
