I burned the recovery disc on one HP dv2700t, can I use them on a different dv2700t or do I have to burn another set again?
-
it should work as long as the to laptops contain the same hardware and of course the same OS... i just made a set of restore dvds on one laptop then used them to reload a laptop w/ same mainboard but different model#..
hope it works for you,

Hey, I know this is an old thread, but Would using a "back-to-factory-setting" recovery disc work on another computer? I'm desperate to use XP again on this computer, but I don't know now to get an XP disc to us on this...
Please and Thank you -
It will work, as long as it is the same model. Like the example of HP dv2700t recovery disc, it will work with another HP dv2700t.

In fact, from big box manufacturers, lots of restore discs will even work across models within the same group of generations. I know that Dell puts out a single recovery disc that covers like 50 models of computer at once. They just pack a bunch of different drivers and software on it.

the hardware needs 100% same, or else the recovery disk installation will fail and tell you the discs arent made for that product.
You can buy generic recovery discs from HP, these will work for different models.
The ones you burn will only work for that exact model -
I think the serial key is linked to the mainboard, so I'd have to say no, you cannot use it on another system.
That's why OEM versions are cheap. -
Nope..............

No, it can. My friends borrow my Toshiba Satellite R10 recovery discs all the time because hers was missing and she's lazy to burn her own. Works.
-
Did you burn your own recovery disc? -
No I don't burn it myself, it comes with the packaging. It is written: "Product Recovery DVD-ROM TOSHIBA Satellite R10". So probably it is generic?

Nice, it shouldn't work but it does, nice mate!
Will the recovery disc burned on one computer work on a different computer of the same model?
