    when windows 10 came out, I upgraded, didn't like it, then went back to 8.1. however, now google chrome is super slow.

    Make a clean install of Win 8.1. Do not roll from Win 10. No Win 10 is not faster. Tested by @Mr Fox

    Is that advice? Only google chrome was slow. So I installed fire fox.
