hi, next year, will pc monitor convert to 16:9? reason being is because most windows vista screenshot i've seen seems to be in 16:9 format, and with the sideshow on, they seems to perform better than with 16:10. will the next monitor standard be 16:9 or 16:10?

I doubt it. But even then, you get differences between manufacturers now. Some people have 1280x800 displays, some 1280x768 (which isn't 16:10 OR 16:9), and other sets. But PC's typically need more vertical space than horizontal, so I'd guess they'll stay at the current 16:10. There's no real reason for a conversion to 16:9 other than to support movies.

They're typically 16:10, but it's not due to needing more vertical space than horizontal. Rather, 16:10 allows you to do much higher 4:3 ratios than 16:9. Take 1080p for instance (1920x1080), vs 1920x1200. With the 16:9 screen, you're limited to 1400x1050 as a 4:3 ratio that can be directly displayed...while with 1920x1200, you get 1600x1200. 1680x1050 allows 1400x1050, whereas the 16:9 ratio (1680x945) would be much lower. And 1280x800 (16:10) allows 1024x768, whereas the 16:9 ratio for 1280 would be 720 (720p), which again would only allow a pretty low standard 4:3 ratio.

not to mention most movies aren't actually in 16:9 they are much wider than that.
