    Win 7 Search results

    All of the screen shots I have seen for search results in the Start menu show multiple categories of results with a few items in each category.
    Like this for example:

    Mine does not seem to function that way. In a sample search, I am getting Microsoft Outlook items populating the entire display. If I want to see other categories I need to click on the button for more results and then organize them there. See the attached image for what I am getting.

    Anyone else experiencing this and/or know of a fix.

    This gets more curious. If I start to type REGEDIT into the start menu search. Initially I do get categories.

    When I get to REG, I see the results shown in SearchCapture0.JPG below.

    When I get to REGE, suddenly it is all Outlook items, see SeachCapture1.jpg below.

    When I get to REGEDI, I am down to two Outlook items, see SearchCapture2.jpg below.

    But when I get to REGEDIT, suddenly the Programs group reappears, see SearchCapture3.jpg below.

    Something strange is afoot.

    ive noticed the thing with regedit, msconfig and such since vista

    Try rebuilding your index Gary. See if that helps.

    When I installed Win 7 on Saturday I did just that.
