So after behaving so well for a long time, win7 has decided to start locking up for apparently no reason at all. It seems to like to do it when I move my mouse or scroll quickly in firefox, it hasn't locked up while I've been in a game thus far. The log viewer is being about as helpful as a brick wall, only indicating the same 2 errors every time; the critical (shutdown improperly) and the warning (msse oobe failed to blah blah, does this on every reboot and it's normal).

The only major thing I've changed in the past week is upgrading to 10.8 drivers, and powerplay is disabled though it doesn't seem to make a difference. I've also installed 2 htofix packages from MS, the DX improvement patch and the supposed win7 lockup hotfix (the one you had to sign up for, and it doesn't seem to do anything).

Is this a win7 problem, a firefox problem, an ATI problem or something else? The hardware seems fine, temps are normal sounds are normal, SMART reports everything ok... this has really got me confused.

roll back the drivers and see if behavior changes........

That's what system restore is for. It works pretty well.
