First I couldn't install SP1 because of the driver cleaner that removed system folders for ATI. I tried all recommendations and even Driver sweeper backup files but nothing helped.
I reinstalled Win7 and SP1 installed immediately and then another shock. Mobility drivers 11.2, and 11.1 just restart my notebook while installing, leaving partly installed drivers.
10.12 and older can be installed though and work correctly. What is more interesting once I managed to install 11.2 driver it restarted and Aero was disabled and I checked the driver in Device manager. It said it wasn't properly signed and therefore disabled!
Now I tried 10.12 again and 10.5 and both installed and worked ok.
I downloaded all drivers straight from the official AMD pages.
Now what to think? Clean Win 7 SP1 and I cannot install 11.1 or 11.2 properly? Before SP1 they both installed correctly.
Does anyone else have similar experiences?

Weird. I installed SP1 forever ago and I installed 11.2 when they came out.
-
Sorry to hear that. D:
My stepdads Emachine "something ^^" with Intel Core i3 330m and ATI Mobility HD 5470 survived the SP1 update with ease. -
This is what the Device driver properties says: Windows cannot verify the digital signature for the drivers required for this device. A recent hardware or software change might have installed a file that is signed incorrectly or damaged, or that might be malicious software from an unknown source. (Code 52)

Well, well, well after 2 unsuccessful attempts with 11.2, 11.1 was installed ok! Now that is weird. I will try and download 11.2 again from some other place.
-
Solved!
1. Install 11.1
2. Don't uninstall it.
3. Install 11.2 from amd.com
4. Restart
For me the key was to NOT UNINSTALL old driver and by all means NO DRIVER SWEEPER!
Every day something new. -
It looks like most (all?) people who are complaining about SP1 install problems are doing so after they've used registry cleaners or driver sweeper/cleaners.
There may be a lesson there. -
I agree - no sweepers/cleaners and amd.com drivers only. It will eventually work on SP1.
Actually if you used driver sweeper prior to 2.8.5 on Win 7 you cannot install SP1 anymore. You can try to fix it - I did all known methods, but it didn't help. So I reinstalled Windows, installed SP1 and then I could't install 11.2. I managed to install it over 11.1.
Now it works. -
Lol...
I ran Ccleaner after installing SP1 on my laptop and everything was working fine.
No problems here.
I did notice a similar thread though which also mentioned another registry or driver cleaner...
Sigh...
In my experience, Ccleaner is the ONLY program trustworthy enough to clean the registry without causing any issues.
All other programs seem to cause SOMETHING to go bonkers with the OS apparently. -
Actually, you can install SP1 if you've used any "driver cleaning" programs. You just need to be smart enough (as in be able to cross check and compare) and patient enough to actually look at the CBS and SURC logs. If the CBS log is too big, you delete it and run "sfc /scannow" to create another more manageable/readable log. All these "driver cleaning" programs did was delete the factory package drivers in Windows 7. You just need to pop these driver back into the correct directory and you're good to go.

Yes CCleaner is ok. Most people say so.
BTW. I went back to my clean windows restore point. I tried the very same amd.com 10.2 driver and it gave me that restart and not signed driver in properties. BUT if Install ANY older driver first, then I can install 10.2 over it. Now that sounds like SP1 + ATI 10.2 issue here. Something is missing in 10.2 that Win 7 x64 SP1 gets from older drivers?

Mobility 11.2 is the first one to implement the new CCC, I'm pretty sure. Even 11.1 used the old CCC. Maybe there's more that changed, but that's the most obvious one.

Ahbeyvuhgehduh Lost in contemplation....
-
With latest CCleaner release (v3.04), Win7 SP1 support has been added. Previous instances might cause some problems with SP1.
-
Or it could be something with Microsoft default driver that updates while installing Windows. It also comes from Ati, but through Windows update (no CCC). But from my experience I couldn't install 11.2 over it. Perhaps I could have gone to VGA driver or something and then try 11.2.
Well...
Win 7 x64 SP1 and 11.x ATI mobility drivers problems
