Hi,
This laptop came with Vista, then updated to Win7. Now it is running Win 8, but there is no sound or video available via Microsoft media player. Control Panel devices says no driver installed for media controller. HP website for drivers for this laptop has 32 and 64 bit drivers for vista and Win 7, but nothing for Win 8.
Are drivers available for Win 8 for this laptop? Any advice much appreciated. Thanks

Try drivers for Win7. They usually work.

HI, thank you very much for Win7 idea. I almost tried that, but I found a program on the internet called Driver Genius ver 12, and it found 17 newer drivers for the HP. When the download and install of the drivers finished, it had Sound and Video working. I waited a few days to be sure the system is stable with the new drivers, and it is.
Thanks again for taking the time to reply to my post. -

Just be careful with those programs. Many of them are either a virus, or just plain useless. I suppose if you don't mind your drivers in Czechoslovakian though then they're okay.
