    Hi,

I have Lenovo Y580 with windows 8 preinstalled on it. Today I wanted to install windows 7 on another partition but when I get to point to choose partition it says that windows cannot be installed on that partition because it is GPT type. On some sites i have found that disk should be erased and partitons created as another type. Is there some other way to make dual boot? I dont want to mess up my windows 8 installation or delete it.

Not sure I quite understand what your problem is but I am dual booting Win 7 & 8 on my laptop. I however started the other way, Win 7 already installed and then installed Win 8 in a different partition. Check out this tutorial as this is what I followed to dual boot on my laptop How to Dual Boot Windows 7 and Windows 8 - YouTube

    Hope it helps.
