I have Win 8.1 pre-installed on my new laptop and I believe it is a complete fail when it comes to gaming. To try this out I would like to run Windows 7 parallel to Windows 8.1 (dual boot).

What's the easiest way to now install Windows 7 ?

Just shrink the Win 8.1 partition and then install Win 7 on the new partition ?

    Thanks

Windows 8 uses an updated bootloader so you may have problems booting back into W8 after you install W7. You might want to make a recovery disc just in case you need to repair the bootloader after you install W7.

Rule of thumb is you generally install the older OS first and the OS just writes over and updates the old bootloader.
