Whenever I set a window size, or sort by date, etc., those settings are then used for all future explorer windows opened up.

I can't seem to find how to allow each instance save the settings that I leave it with.

Can someone point me in the right direction?

    Thanks,
    R

Wonderful world of Windows 7... The window size thing can be fixed with a 3rd party app, if thats in ur interest?

I dunno....in all other versions of Windows, I had it set so that each folder had its own view (details vs icons, etc), size and sorting.

I can't imagine that Win 7 forces the same view for every folder that opens up. I thought I was just being dense.

I know, Windows 7 sometimes doesn't remember the folder layout options you choose. It's very annoying.

You can easily achive this though, if you want to, i have it set like that myself (Details everywhere).

Get XDN Tweaker and go to the "Files and Folders III" tab and click "Make views stick". Then you can apply Details one folder then go into folder options and press "apply to all folders". Viola.

Thanks Reb - I'll check it out... I'll also read the reviews - is the software well behaved?

Just to confirm, there is no native way to do this in Windows 7? I don't even see a setting!

    Thanks,
    R
