Whenever I C+A+D to lock the computer, only the task manager comes up. Why is this? I want to actually lock it, then when I return, enter my PW then get back on the machine. Please advise. Thanks.

Yeaps, use Windows + L to send the computer back to the login page. You don't actually log out though, so when you enter the password, you resume what you were last doing, so that's good.

Yep that's an XP pro feature, I really wish they would include in home.

There actually is a way. Go to control panel, select user accounts, select "change the way users log on or off", and then deselect "use the welcome screen". Now, when you press ctrl + alt + del, it should bring up the Windows Security dialog, just like in Windows 2000. From there, you can lock your computer, bring up task manager, etc.

However, as notebookyoozer mentioned, windows + L is a faster way of locking your computer.
