Hi every body! I'm new!![]()
Last week i bought an ASUS N56VZ. Win7 is pre-installed. On the first run i made the backup disks with the ASUS app included with the machine.
Today I wanted to install the backup so i used those CDs and apparently everything went fine.
Unfortunately turning on the PC, after the ASUS logo, it says:
I don't have the installation disk and I cannot access to the recovery partition to solve the problem since pressing F8, F9 etc. nothing happens.
Pressing ESC i entered in the setup screen and using the "ASUSTek easy flash utility" to browse in the HDD I found out that even if the recovery seemed OK initially, something didn't work since i can still see the files that i had installed before the recovery
Any advice?
Thanks![]()
PS: after burning the backup disks i installed daemon tools. i thiught it was the right version and it worked great but could this be the cause?

Try this : put hard drive in AHCI mode in BIOS. And start Windows Safe Mode (F8).

welcome
^^ press F8 continuously
at work so cant explain much but you can download windows 7 here as long as you have a key and then you will have a backup just in case it happens again.

Thank you very muche for your answers guys!
Regarding the download you provided:
1) even if my windows copy is legal (pre-installed) it didn't ask for a key and i don't think I have one
could i download it as a try without voiding the warranty?
Thank you again for your help. hope you'll be able to help me further when you come back from work -
i will point you in the direction of some free software which will show all your licence keys on the lappy but first we have to get the thing to boot up.
im wondering id asus use a different F* for safe mode. i only know clevo's off by heart.
finish work in 3 hours and counting -
I was thinking: what if i download free legal a copy of windows 7 and during the installation i use the product key that is reported under the battery? this should be legal since i payed for the product key, and the warranty should be still valid.... -
yup thats one of the places they stick the key if its not on the bottom.
well worth a try.
when i reinstalled my os that number wasnt valid and i had to hunt the disk down where the number was on the inside of the case.
edit:
just in case that key doesnt work use this to find all your keys on your lappy http://www.magicaljellybean.com/keyfinder/ -
can the ISOs from Digital River work for me?
do these ISOs work on a OEM machine? i was planning to reinstall windows using the iso, with my reg key printed on the label underneath the battery. will it work? -
it can but you will need the original windows 7 key.

FINALLY I DID IT! i didn't even used my product key! i just downloaded the windows home premium retail version and clicked on repair instead of install. at the beginning it didn't work because i wasn't in UEFI mode (it said that the version was not compatible), but then i entered in uefi mode and it fixed everything. I didnt even lose my files
Thank you very much for your support guys! it was really helpful -
Just a question Odilon, i dont know if you try it or not, did you try to reinstall the disc's of irecovery in UEFI mode? i am going to try tonight these solution, cause i have the same problem trying to reinstall the dvd's of irecovery after saying that its all "ok" and give the same error in reboot.
Win7 failed to start!
