Hi, this might be a stupid question to ask, but I'm wondering if its ok to constantly have your cpu under load and can it harm it in any way.
My cpu is always about 20-25% under load and never idle, because of all the gadgets I'm running. Temps are are ok(50-65c max) and I cant notice any decrease in performance.
So my only concern is that cpu never idles and is always under load. Is there any way that this can cause problems or failure?

    Thanks in advance.

No, you'll be fine. Are you sure that the CPU ussage is not caused by a type of virus or something?

Ah, then there is no problem. You'll do fine, as I said.

Same thing with my laptop and desktop.. Windows Gadget does use the CPU.. That's why if I want to game i'll close all the gadgets.. or else.. example GTA4 will lag badly on my [email protected].. otherwise I could run it at 20-30FPS :D

whoa, just how many gadgets are you using? 20% of a massive CPU is an awful lot. I've got 3 gadgets and rainmeter and it only accounts for the smallest perctage. At this very moment I'm downloading torrents, ripping blu ray movie and browsing the web, but at 4% CPU usage.

Yea... i know its pretty ridiculous. At the moment im running 17 gadgets, sometimes more :D... and usually have office documents and web browser running, so all together its constantly around 20%. CpuFan2 it self is quite demanding, I know its useless, but looks cool). However, when running games I cant really notice any decrease in performance even with all the gadgets running in the background. I run Lockon2 with 1920x1080 4AF 2AA med game settings and it runs real smooth. The only concern i had, is if this constant strain on cpu can screw it up any time soon, coz im planning to oc it when warranty runs out. Anyway, Ill probably get bored of all this crap pretty soon).

PS. I might have over exaggerated with 20-25%. Looking at it now... 17 gadgets i got at the moment, without any other progs running, use around 15%.
    Still, nowhere near idle)

window 7 shudown/pause the gadget when runing a full screen aplication so unlike vista they can't hog all your cpu power when you are doing something else

You should definitely look into Rainmeter to substitute for some of your gadgets when you get bored.

I've got 3 gadgets: iTunes controller, OrbLog's Intel Core Series, and the Intel Turbo Boost Monitor. They consume about 34MB of RAM.

For Rainmeter, I've got 2 notes, a google calendar reader, iTunes launcher and iTunes controller, system and network usage, and an analog clock. They consume just over 14MB of RAM. Rainmeter will also allow you to have your skins look very similar, as compared to the very different looks of the Windows Gadgets.
