After some serious research and hunting around, I am finally going to buy a gaming laptop. So now I am faced with a question of getting a SSD or just a normal HD for the OS. I am ordering it in a few days, and I have not been able to find any good research, facts, videos, or anything solid showing if it was worth it or not. This will be on a quad core and I’m not really all that concerned on the cost difference.
Any input? Keep in mind, I’m looking for more actual proof, testing, or any form of real world handling and not just opinions.

The performance will be roughly the same in games. It's just that almost everything will feel snappier.

and don't forget thats 2 hd`s in raid in that vid
a single hd will be a lot slower, so the ssd wins all round

The SSD will be fast as heck for you. The only thing to really keep in mind is that an SSD costs a lot more per GB. You won't have much storage space left over for movies and such with an SSD. Make sure you have a good external drive if you get an SSD.

I love mine, but I feel a fair bit cramped sometimes, and mine's a "larger" one at 120GB.

If you're always able to access a NAS, why even have a notebook?

You could always look for a laptop with two bays, both a high perfomance SSD and HDD. That is about as good as it gets...............

Yeah, exactly. Since you're getting a gaming laptop with minimal concern for price, a 17'' with 2 HDD bays would probably be the best choice here.
