Interesting. I'll say first that my Win7 installations never bluescreen either. However, in almost all cases, no, make that all cases, that I have seen Explorer crashes in Windows 7, it was due to some funky shell extension or similar non-Microsoft add-on. Are you sure you don't have something like that going on?

I use the iobit start8 start button replacement also the sidebar gadgets replacement for win8 it`s the only way i can make Win8 bearable.

Are there specific, reproducible actions you know that cause a crash? Things like right-clicking on certain objects, opening certain menus, etc.?

Nothing specific, it just happens, i can be opening an drive, run a program, notebook could just be idling, it might not happen for hours and then it can happen twice, it`s a hard one to diagnose.
I have run mem tests, run checkdsk, run sfc /scannow , run virus and spyware app nothing found, i though it might be the iobit start8 start button replacement also the sidebar gadgets replacement for win8, also i have tuneup utility's 2013 running all the time.
Thanks

Ouch, that's not good... I had tried their stuff quite a few years back, and it was atrocious. I don't know if they have improved by now, but from your description this might very well be the culprit. While I don't remember the details, I do remember that their stuff had the potential to do some real damage to your system. You might try to at least stop this from running, and see if (some of) the crashes go away.
Generally speaking, I have an extremely low opinion of any of those so-called "tune-up", "optimization", "tweaking" and similar types of software packages and tools. The vast majority of them are useless at best, and a good many of them have a good chance of making matters worse.MidnightSun likes this. -
I'm running Win 8.1 with no modifications and I've had IE lock up for me maybe once a month...not enough to be significant or reproducible. Definitely not several times per day or anything like that.

I will remove tuneup and see how it goes.

Yep, have very rarely ever had Windows Explorer crash in either W7 or W8/W8.1. The last time I had issues with frequent Windows Explorer crashes was in Windows Vista pre-SP1.

So how do you guys keep your notebook clean and running fast.
John. -
I use Microsoft's Disk Cleanup (find it in Win8 by doing a global search for "clean"...one of the options is "free up disk space by deleting unnecessary files," which launches Disk Cleanup (basically the Win7 version once launched)). I also use Microsoft Defender an Malwarebytes. That's it. No other third-party software necessary. After fifteen months, my Duo 11 runs faster than the day I bought it.

Once in a month is typical for me , not that it never happen in win7.
Haven't bother doing any ccleaner type of cleaning since getting a SSD with win7. -
Same as Mitlov here but I use extended version on Win7 of the cleanup (I never tried it on 8) Disk Cleanup : Extended - Windows 7 Help Forums
-
Stop using these for a day and I bet the Explorer crashes will stop.
