Hello all, I know not many users will know about wincvs. Generally it is a software that only programmers will ever think of using. I'm a programmer myself so this is quite important. Before wasting anymore of your time, if you're not experienced with setting up server systems, there's no need to read any further. However, if you've used wincvs or have setup any cvs system, please read on.

I've been reading online on how to setup a cvs server and I've basically got my directory all configured out in my "respository" except.... I can't setup an admin account. It says "cvs [passwd aborted]: Can't authenticate - server and client cannot agree on an authetication scheme <got ' '>"

I don't get what i did wrong I followed the command

    cvs passwd -a -r <username> <username>

    Anybody got any ideas?

Well, I'd suggest using SVN instead. It's made by the CVS developers as a CVS replacement, after all... [wink]
Here's a good place to start

Other than that, can't be much help. I never had any problems when I set up WinCvs. (I don't think you need to set up an admin account though. Pretty sure it just accepts windows users)
But I switched to SVN a year or two ago, so haven't tried since.
