Anyway, last week I bought Advent Children (Awesome DVD btw!!)

Now I normally don't use my laptop to play DVDs...

So I ran WinDVD. And everytime I put it into Full-Screen mode, the screen goes blank but it still plays (I have audio and the laptop didn't crash)...
It works fine in a window!

So then I uninstalled WinDVD and reinstalled it.. It didn't fix the problem either..

So then I uninstalled all my codecs (including the XP Codec Pack).. And *poof* just like that it worked. Playing DVDs in a Window and full screen.

So then I try another codec pack.. (I need my codecs!! darn it!!)
    K-Lite I think its called...

And started up WinDVD and it works! Both in a window and in full-screen! BUT..
    1) Close down WinDVD
    2) Open up Windows Media Player
    3) Open a file with a different codec (xvid, mpg, etc. etc.)
    4) It plays!!
    5) Close down Windows Media Player
    6) Open WinDVD
    7) Go fullscreen... No matter how much I fiddle around with it, I get a blank screen..
    8) Close down WinDVD
    9) Open up WinDVD... Still a blank screen...

The ONLY thing that cures the blank screen? REBOOT! But its cured only until I play a video in Windows Media Player

The DVD plays just fine in Windows Media Player (fullscreen)!!
BUT I don't want to use Windows Media Player because it doesn't have the same color adjustment features as WinDVD does (I try to adjust the brightness/color and the sliders stay in the middle).

This is quite a bizarre problem!! And has had me stumped for hours!!

Any help would be appreciated!! Anybody know which codec it is that conflicts with WinDVD? I've tried not installing the MPEG-2 codecs in the KLite codec pack, but that didn't work (Problem still happens). Ugh, how frustrating..

And yes, the problem happens no matter which DVD I try to play.
And I've tried turning off the hardware acceleration in WinDVD and it makes the screen turn pink! Just a solid pink! How bizzare!

    Graphics card:
    ATI X700 128 MB Dedicated
Driver version: 8.162-050803a2-026697C A [Latest from HP.com, I supposed I'll try upgrading it and seeing how it goes]

SOLVED!! Oops, I have Win DVD 5 (not WinDVD6)

Apparently, its not a Codec problem at all.
Its just that WinDVD 5 is not compatible with StarDock ObjectDock from Wincustomize.com

    1) Close down ObjectDock
    2) Start up Win DVD 5
    3) It works! Everytime
