The Notebook Review forums were hosted by TechTarget, who shut down them down on January 31, 2022. This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved. For current discussions, many NBR forum users moved over to NotebookTalk.net after the shutdown.

    WinSAT just started itself and made my graphics wig out - what the hell?

    I was browsing a message board and chatting on IRC when my taskbar turned white and my system started seeming very taxed, I jumped to task manager and saw WinSAT.exe was using 50% (and the start button was still visible on the ctrl+alt+del screen). I rebooted and everything's back to normal.

    What the hell just happened?

    This is in Win 7 x64, on the 1810T described in my sig.
