I installed Windows XP Media Center on my computer but it does not work properly. I keep getting a "Disk Error: Video will not play" or "video card has malfunctioned". I have a Acer Aspire 5000 laptop. All the requirements to install MCE my computer meets except the video card. I believe thats the reason for the error. Does anyone know what type of video cards meet the MCE requirement.

The video requirement for MCE is a DirectX 9 hardware-accelerated GPU, such as a recent ATI Radeon or Nvidia GeForce. If your laptop's video doesn't meet this minimum, it won't work. I don't know if you can upgrade your 5000's video.

Try updating your laptop's video card drivers. I have XP:MCE installed and running on my 710m with Intel Extreme 2 graphics just fine.
