How do you get the full 3D effect. I have an HP dv9700t that is more than powerful enough and have tranparency on and the vista theme going. I doubt I would keep it up, but I'd like to see it. I searched and can't seem to find a good answer, thanks.

By full 3D do you mean when you hold in your Windows key and press Tab? Vista does not feature a 3D desktop or anything. It just has the Aero theme and Flip 3D (Windows+Tab).

Update your drivers. That's probably the only thing I can think of.

Edit: Wait, are you talking about having transparency when your windows are maximized?

Okay, that wasn't so exciting. I thought there was more to it than that. Time to turn off all the stupid crap.

Is there more to the transparency than just the edges being transparent?
    Thanks Rob

Well there's things like taskbar/alt-tab thumbnail previews, more noticeable animations when doing things like minimizing/maximizing windows, etc.

One difference - dragging app windows without Aero enabled is sluggish. Looks pretty bad. One reason I keep Aero ON.
