Ok, so I try booting up my laptop with Vista 64bit Biz and it won't load completely.

I am able to get to the window login page and enter my password, but once i enter my password, the harddrive will run a bit and turn black... The OS is not complete frozen at this point, I was able to open up task manager and such...

There is a error message saying "Window search Indexer has stopped"...

Anyone have advise as to how to resolve this?

The error message stated the following:

    APPCRASH
    SearchIndexer.exe
    6.0.6001.18000
    47919f9e
    Stackhash_6334
    6.0.6001.18000
    4791adec
    c0000374

I did not setup a restore point, so resetting to previous known good state is not a option... sad...

Load again, call up task manager. In task manager, choose FILE > NEW TASK (RUN) and type in
    msconfig
    click OK

Go to SERVICES and uncheck WINDOWS SEARCH

reboot. Fix? I actually do not think it will. I think instead it is the infamous KSOD (black screen of death), which I have fixed a couple of times by deleting the event logs and allowing Windows to recreate them. A corrupt event log is not the only cause of the KSOD, but I have found it fixed two of three machines...

KSOD sounds about right!!! It will leave the screen blank and does nothing....

Can you explain to me how to delete the event logs? Really Appreciated!

It depends on what you have around, but I have loaded the computer with a linux live cd and deleted the contents of

    %SystemRoot%\system32\winevt\Logs\

(any file that ends with the .evtx extension)
