i did... frankly, they are a waste...
i say forget it. -
Yeah, many people who I've talked to say to stay away from it. Apparently, it's more problem than it's worth.
-
Agreed. Stay away. They just eat up your resources.
-
i kinda figured. i had hoped that they had improved over time.

Can't support Stardock due to the format lock-ins. They've harnessed artists who work for free in order to fuel their profits, and have hijacked Microsoft's Dreamscene format by sponsoring their proprietary Deskscape crap.
-
I haven't had any problems with WindowBlinds 5 and I've been using it for a long time. I also do not notice any performance degradation.
-
i had it for alittlewhile for xp home and it was cool to have with firefox

just use native windows MSSTYLES there are a lot of good themes. no programs no extra resources

I used to use it because I liked the AMD 64 theme they had I used on an AMD machine. I didn't have an issue.

I used to have WB 6 on my machine. Worked great once you found a theme you liked and worked well with everything.
-
nice theme for 64

seems to be nothing for Intel

I would rather choose Deskscapes which has different cool backgrounds you can customize than Microsoft's 14 boring dreamscenes  -

Or just use any wmv file. Since dreamscene allows videos. =\ -
You realize that having a competing format actually hurt Dreamscenes, right? If Stardock kept its meddling greed under control and Deskscapes didn't exist, we'd have a lot more than 14 "boring dreamscenes".

Microsoft's last dreamscene updates are just too lame to download at all. An update with a low resolution videos which are exactly alike except from its different color tones? Where was their dedication with that? If they started that program atleast they should come with the scenes worthy for downloading. Atleast stardock came up with something good. And back from the time I downloaded deskscapes, it still can't be of use if the OS a person came ain't Ultimate. So it still depends on Microsoft OS in terms of usage.
Im not arguing, just stating my opinion. Thanks for the explanation though.

Stardock has done nothing but come up with a proprietary format that can't be used with Dreamscene, and siphoned off a lot of talent that would otherwise have embraced the native format.
Dreamscene uses WMV and MPEG. What do you see when you open up a Dreamscape with Stardock's program? Same formats. The key difference between Deskscapes and Dreamscenes (and the similar naming was no accident) is that you need to cough up money to Stardock to use their format.
I think it is an unfortunate business model that they've adopted, if you will, it is roughly analogous to Linux repositories allowing developers to update and track their software for free, but charging clients for downloading.
