small problem, but i cant seem to find a remedy.

everytime i open a window and adjust it to a size i desire. then restart or turn off and turn back on the computer, the size of the window still remains as it was (too small) is there a setting or something i can access to keep my windows the size i make them? thx

Open only one window (say IE) and size it however you want and close it. Then open IE to test your sizing. Don't click "maximize". This will make it to run in maximized window every time you open IE.

This holds good for any other windows application too like "Computer", Help and support, etc

im referring to any window in general. im using vista premium btw. ive been doing what you described since i got this laptop coolguy but the windows never seem to memorize the size i set it at. and even if i hit maximize. it will not open in maximize the next time i open it. instead it will remain small and annoying. any settings i should change?

Window size is/can be controlled by the software author, so this may not work for every program, but should work for IE, computer, etc.

Open the window or program and manually resize to the desired size (don't use maximize or minimize) by clicking and dragging each side of the window. Once you have the size you wish use File>Exit to terminate the program or close the window.

In IE tools>Menu Bar>File>Exit. In windows such as Computer alt+F>File>Close.

nice try deputy but this does not work. ive tried this multiple times before posting and i just did now. still, it will open in a small annoying window and i have to manually make it bigger via minimize/maximize or manual. i do not have this problem on my desktop. there must be a setting somewhere or something. NOTE: this method works but only for the duration my computer is on. if i reset it or turn it off. the windows will start in the small mode again. so could this be a saving settings problem when i turn off the computer? i suspect that this is the problem

Do you have the latest video driver? This is a long shot guess, but I wonder if your video driver has gotten your resolution confused (or corrupted registry entry) and upon restart your at (*example*) 1200x800 but it thinks it's a higher res like 1680x1050. Just a thought. Basically I'm saying check the reg settings for your vid card and reinstall the drivers. A long shot? Yes.

Resize the window, then close it. If it doesn`t work, I remember being a setting under My Computer then click Tools/Folder Options/View and "remember each folder`s view settings".
