For the last 2 days, windows update on my Z is not working at all. When I choose to download updates, it gets stuck at 0% all the time. I've ran a full scan with malwarebytes, cleaned my registry with ccleaner and its still doing the same thing. How can I fix it?

What's worked for me in the past has been to delete the "Datastore.edb" file and delete the Log files. Reboot the computer and try running Windows Update again. :)

Did you stop the Windows Update service first then delete those files? Because if you deleted those files without first stopping WU then that means WU was not running (i,e, Windows 7 doesn't let you delete those files without first stopping the service). ;)

Is WU scheduled for automatic or notify first? What kind of AV and Firewall are you using? Did you try to disable both temporarily to see if you can perform an update?

Instead of doing a batch update try to download and install 1 or 2 updates first to see if it's a particular update that is not allowing the others to download. :)

there has been a couple of dodgy updates in the last week that have affected some members but not all.
maybe try a system restore to the day before the update was released.

Ive set it to notify first, I'm using windows security essentials and I haven't tried disabling either of them yet. I'll try it out now

Check Windows Update sevice first to see if it's running.

My Computer --> right click --> Manage --> Services and Applications scroll down until you find Windows Update. If the service is in the stopped state then start the service. If it's running, stop the service then restart the service.

and don't forget to try and download and install only 1 or 2 updates to see if Windows Update is working. ;)

Well its happening again with one update, I would turn the windows update service off, delete the logs and datastore and then download. It then gets stuck at 15%, if I dont do any of that, it stays at 0%......
