Well I decided to start an install of Win 10. It went okay. Then when I attempted to install the AMD drivers 16.3.2 screen went blank during install. When I got back in I got the dreaded Thread stuck in display driver. When in safe mode discovered the Generic Display Driver was listed as not working. Did a Windows update driver search and it says I have the best driver already. So I did a DDU of Intel and AMD drivers. Then booted into normal mode. Installed Intel, reboot, then AMD, reboot and then the same error message Thread stuck in display driver. The video bios on the AMD is 015.017.000.000.042717

Running Windows 10 Pro, HM77 mobo, Alienware M17xR4 A12 bios, UEFI with legacy enabled, only 1 OS installed with just 1 partition (the c drive, not including the system, msr or whatever else was created by the OS). Installed Intel Chipset INF, 153343.4425 Intel HD Graphics Driver, AMD 16.3.2 and then AMD 16.5.3 hotfix nonwhql.

Have tried booting into Windows in low res mode and in unsigned driver are okay mode. I was a fan of Windows 10 as all the mags and what I have heard was that Win 10 was like what Windows 7 was to Vista. However I am not a big fan now.

Remove all drivers with DDU, reboot, check for updates. Windows should install drivers for you. From there you can choose to update your AMD drivers or not. Try the update without DDU. DDU seems to break Windows 10 more often than it did 7 or 8.1
