    Hi,

since the 1709 update the windows key behaves really oddly, it only works in combination with fn. The fn key is tied to the multimedia functions in the BIOS, but changeing it did not do anything for the windows key.

Can you try reinstalling the Alienware Control Center or whatever that app was called that's responsible for the key mappings and enabling the FN keys?

thx, for the fast answer. I have tried it, but its the same. I have also tried safe mode, no changes. It does however work correctly with an external keyboard.

Might have to roll back and re install. My system was crazy wonky after I updated. I rolled back to CU. Then I updated to FCU again and everything works correctly and fast. It gets garbled sometimes. Like any update no matter what system you are using.

To avoid any CU update problems or bugs or user caused problems is to do a clean CU update on a restored system or fresh install. That way it can be determined whether the problems is a CU update or user installed caused issue that moved to CU during the update.

I have rolled the system back to 1703 and the windows key is still not working without fn.

Check in your BIOS to see if there was a selection change...or in the system itself. Stupid stuff could happen any time when updating any machine.

Did you also consider that the Win+Fn key failed? Getting another working keyboard to test if this has happened is the only way to know for sure if this is a BIOS or Keyboard fault or software driver fault.
