    Hey guys.

So, installed windows 10 shortly after its full release on my Surface Pro 2 and, for the most part, very much like it. However, there have been a few things which are bugging me. First off is that whenever the CPU is allowed to run at full speed, these background processes seem to just pop up and start using like ~34% of my CPU and all it does is make the laptop super hot and drain the battery like hell. So I've started limiting the CPU when on battery, power saver, and I've found that maximum it will throttle is to 0.8Ghz, which turns out is actually pretty fine for most daily use; light web browsing, One Note, iTunes, etc.

But it is really annoying because of course when I'm plugged in I wanna be using my CPU to its full extent but it hampers performance somewhat.

My install was over my previous Win 8.1, not a fresh install, by the way.

    Any tips/ideas? Thanks.

I'll take some screenshots of Task Manager later today.

    Did you read this thread:
    Why I don't like Windows 10

Probably your system sending all your info, typed keystrokes, activities to Microsoft which is why you are seeing such high CPU usage.

On a side note, OS upgrades are a very bad idea, they are always buggy. Format and do a clean install if you really want a clean OS

Even the upgrade has to do house chores. This being indexing and the like. since you slowed it down it might take up to a week for this to settle out. After a week if there are still issues you will need to start tracking them down.
