Hi all,
After performing the inplace upgrade of windows 7 64 bit to windows 10 it activated succesfully. However after performing a clean install from usb bootable media it will not activate and says not activated. I followed the process here http://www.howtogeek.com/224342/how-to-clean-install-windows-10/ which states activation is tied to your hardware. I even contacted microsoft which where of no help whatsover stating you HAVE to perform the upgrade and there is no product key given for upgraded systems. Saying I would have to buy one what BS, has anyone had success with a clean install? I have an Alienware 18 btw.

My Windows 10 didn't activate on the first day either - I just left it turned on overnight one time (connected to internet) & then it activated itself - I think you just need to leave it for a while & it will do it's thing! Other users have experienced the same.

PS: Are you sure you want to kill your laptop by upgrading to Windows 10?

@Matrix Leader
I have read throught the thread about windows 10 blowing LCDs I decided to play russian roulette been running windows 10 for about 3 weeks now, I have the 770M SLI and havent heard of people with that configuration get the problem. Very strange issue indeed that I have never heard of an OS causing actual hardware damage, kinda scary if its indeed the fact. -
