All righty, I was actually able to perform a clean install tonight. This was with 14393.0. Computer was not connected to the Internet, and after the install was completed, I only put on the NVIDIA drivers so I could get output to my external monitor. Put the system to sleep, and it did the same thing. This leads me to only one conclusion - that there's some sort of glitch in the BIOS/EC that was released a couple weeks ago by XMG. I assume there's no way to downgrade either just to make absolutely certain, but that's the only thing I can think of at this point since my Windows install doesn't get much more clean, and I know it was working fine with recent GeForce drivers prior to the BIOS flash.

I posted about this in both the P670 and P650 owners' threads in the Clevo sub forum to see if there's anyone else who can corroborate this finding. I mean, it's not the end of the world since I'll be updating to the Prema BIOS anyway, but if there's any chance of getting the powers that be to take a look at this, that'd be awesome.

Update 2: I used the BIOS to switch to MSHybrid (aka Optimus) mode from dGPU only to see if it would do the same thing. Upon installing the Intel GPU driver and selecting restart, the screen went black as expected, but the machine never rebooted. Same deal if I tried a normal shutdown. I used DDU to clean out the drivers, then the system completely hard-locked when shutting down to get out of safe mode.

With this behavior, unless someone can prove otherwise, I am absolutely convinced that this is a BIOS/EC issue. I've PM'ed XMG with my findings. Hopefully I'll get an answer.
