I have an Alienware M14x - I am going to use Parted Magic to secure erase my SSD and then install Windows 10 (I have it on a USB drive). However, where do you get a product key for it? I have my Windows 8 product key, but I remembered I had issues with my Windows 8 product key working before.

I believe you have to upgrade first than you can reinstall fresh.

Upgrade from your windows 8 installation, you need to do all the Windows updates before the upgrade happens

Once you upgrade, your same Windows 8 key will become a Windows 10 key so you can continue to use the OS with its upgraded state or preferably format again and do a clean install.

From what I read on MS site you use your Current Product Key to install Windows 10 cause you don't get one because if you signed up for it MS already provides the link and download to match your system otherwise they would've given you a new Product Key when you downloaded Windows 10. And I didn't get a email of the new Product Key as well so it is assume you use your Own Product Key when you did the MS upgrade.
