We have all been fooled by Micro$h4ft, seems like they were running late on their 29th of July release date for Windows 10 so they just gave us all another global BETA and labeled it as final.
A new Windows 10 with hopefully many bug fixes is coming out around the 10th of August.
Welcome to the Windows 10 Eternity BETA Program:

No wonder half the OS is broken as this is really not normal.....way too many bugs, like the Windows Photo Viewer not opening files when you have set it as the default app, and why when you set the device installation settings in device manager to never update drivers from Windows updates it doesn't work and still downloads the drivers from Microsoft and installs them all in one shot without rebooting..... this is one seriously bugged OS.......at least now we have perhaps little hope that things may shape up.....

Seems like it will be updating current Win 10 machines now:

Well they just released 10240 to consumers, but it had the patches they released between the original insider 10240 and the one released on 7/29. It was actually called RTM by MS, so this isn't much of a surprise to me or other insiders.

It, the new update, failed on my P79xx.

There are none, it just says update failed with no explanation or error codes etc. I do know it restarted skype, repinned edge, stopped defender.
Edit; tried 3 times and 3x failures.Last edited: Aug 5, 2015Spartan@HIDevolution likes this. -

1) Right click on C: then Properties, then Disk Clean Up, then click on the Clean system files and check all the options that are available
2) IF and only IF that doesn't work, please delete all files in the below folder:
C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download
3) Now disable Windows Pretender temporarily and try to update -
No good, 8 failed attempts now that machine is back to windows 7. The process to go back worked but the task scheduler data was corrupted. after going back used my system image to restore Windows to 7/28.

Odd that we don't hear the general public complaining about this. Are these updates just rolling out to former beta testers?
-
I ran the update on my Thinkpad W550s and I had no issues. I have no issues with Windows Defender.
-
Lol, expect Windows 10.1 to roll out soon when Micro$haft realizes that the vast majority or Win7 owners haven't "upgraded".
Before 10.1 there will be SR1 and SR2 packages.
When all beta testing is done 10.1 will be ready for prime time!Spartan@HIDevolution likes this. -
No issues updating last night.
-
I have to double check when I get home, but I'm fairly certain this is the update that popped up yesterday evening that I installed.
I also updated without any issue. -
After the downgrade I reupgraded and now that the task scheduler was fixed all went well on the P79 except it now has a Memory_Management issue Blue Screen (tested all is fine), and it wanted to update the touchpad driver but since mine was newer it couldn't and was stuck there. (had to roll it back)

I'm currently having issues with the latest windows 10 update (KB3081424) SR1 and many other are as well from a simple google search, I've tried manually installing the update and changing some of the regedit files but nothing is working, it just keeps failing to install and then asks for a reboot. This is a clean windows 10 install and I'm still having trouble installing SR 1.... and Microsoft wants to auto install updates and drivers when they can't even do either correctly... really upsetting with how annoying the notifications for reboots keep popping up. http://puu.sh/junBT/77222dad93.png I really want to like windows 10 but i'm at the point of reverting back to windows 8.

You are in a boat with allot of others. Unfortunately they do not give up the error codes etc so it is hard to track the problems. It is almost as if they do not want anyone else to fix the issues. I feel your pain though as I was there.

He, along with others, are stuck on the cumulative update. If there is a driver that is at issue there is no way to know which one it is.

changing drivers is like changing lanes on a freeway, the most likely time a crash will happen. So lets go out today and start changing lanes as often as we can!
