I just purchased a Lenovo Thinkpad X260 with a 12.5" screen and Full HD display at 1920x1080. I've had really bad experiences with the Surface Pro 4 because the resolution was so high and the DPI would mess with certain applications. I'm aware this is a know issue, but I was wondering if I'll experience the same thing with the new laptop I'll be using.

Pretty much. The DPI scaling issues are not device specific, but a result of the OS itself.
